The Movement in March challenge was such a hit, I decided to keep the momentum going.
I also recognized that my desire to be effective and efficient with my time didn’t just start and end with movement (March 30 Day Challenge), I needed a little something something to keep me going. AKA FOOD. Not just any kind of food, good food.
Food doesn’t have to be a bad word, in fact…food is glorious if done right. I am not talking about the sausage biscuits and gravy that you may or may not be dreaming about right now. I am talking about food that will actually nourish you, food that will contribute to your energy. I am talking about…
Sustenance is defined as food and drink regarded as a source of strength and nourishment. It is the maintaining of someone or something in life or existence.
A Powerful Tool
For so many (including myself), food is a drug. I will be honest and tell you that I have used food my whole life to suppress anxiety and emotions. I have also used it to celebrate special occasions; graduations, promotions, religious milestones, great report cards, you name it…I have a menu for it.
Food has always been a double edged sword for me. On one hand it is a memorable way to enhance special times with families and friends. On the other hand if I am not careful, I feed into the addiction.
So this month I am going to challenge myself [AND YOU] to look at food for the powerful tool it can be. Nourishment. Nourishment for the body, mind and spirit.
I have experimented over the years to see exactly what effects certain foods will have on my energy level. The more balanced and whole my food intake is, the more energy I have. The more energy I have the more effective and efficient I am at home and at work. The more off balanced and processed my food intake is, the more sluggish and foggy I am. I have no energy to be truthful. I then seek out ways to boost my energy level. Usually coffee or a high sugar snack. While they certainly offer a surge of energy, none of it becomes sustainable and I quite often feel as if I have just jumped back into the addiction. It’s not a good feeling and this is not how I want to live the rest of my days.
How about you? Do you want more energy? Do you want to feel alive again? Join me in April as we try new foods and recipes that will nourish our bodies, spark our minds and allow our spirits soar!
